L’Etape du Tour Act 1 photos

Busy couple of days here for us getting our 7 guests over to Modane for the start of the 2011 Modane to Alpe d’Huez Etape du Tour. We started with a trip over the Col du Galibier on the Sunday so that everyone could get there entries. We set everyone off at the Col du Lautaret on their bikes and road over the Col du Galibier and down to the Col du Télégraphe. Once at the bottom we loaded everyone up in our minibus with roof rack for all 8 bikes and set of for Modane to get there entries.

Once everyone ad got their entries we transfered to our base for the night in La Chambre approximately 25 minutes away. After dinned everyone was off to bed very early for the 4AM start the next morning. We dropped them off as close as we could to Modane and set them on their way. As I write this we are still waiting for them to return to our base in Bourg d’Oisans.

Day 3 More Than Etape du Tour Photos Pinerolo to Col du Galibier

Todays ride was meant to take in stage 18 of the 2011 Tour de France over the Col d’Agnel, Col d’Izoard, Col du Lautaret and the Col du Galibier from Pinerolo – however due to the Col d’Agnel being shut we drove to the top of the Col de Sestrier before dropping down to Briançon via the Col de Montgenevre and looping round to the base of the Col d’Izoard and continuing on the route from there. A big day in the mountains.

Day 1 More Than Etape du Tour Photos Col du Lautaret/Galibier

We set off from Bourg d’Oisans today for the first leg of the 2011 More Than Etape du Tour Week. The first day took in the Col du Lautaret and the Col du Galibier before descending to Briançon for an overnight stay.

Each year we choose at least one stage of the Tour de France nearest to our base in Bourg d’Oisans and base a weeks cycling holiday on it. We call it the More Than Etape du Tour Week

Col du Galibier, Lautaret and the Col d’Izoard

We started in Valoires today as part of La Marmotte Tour took in the Col du Galibier from the north before heading down the Col du Lautaret for lunch in Briançon. After a fantastic lunch in Briançon a few of us headed up the Col d’Izoard before returning to Briançon and our overnight stay.
