We are still putting the finishing touches to this holiday – (we have been so busy here in Bourg thats it has been difficult to escape to Italy to reccy the route). Most of its now put together with a climb of Alpe d’Huez on the first day – the Lautaret and Galibier on the second day, the Telegraphe and Galibier again on the 3rd day. Day 4 will be a rest in Briançon. Day 5 we will be taking in the Col de Montgenèvre – ( the climb of which is in France and the descent is in Italy) and onto the Italian climb – the Colle di Sestriere (host of the 2006 Winter Olympics and last used in the Giro d’Italia in 2005) . From here it will be a 50km descent to our base for the night in Pinerolo – The current plan for Day 6 is a short transfer to the base of the Col de Agnel (Colle dell’Agnello in Italy) to tackle this giant of a climb (2744m) before finishing on the iconic Col d’Izoard and back to Briançon.
